The Function of the Nerve Cell
Table of organelles
Organelles of the Nerve cell (What it has in it)
What the nerve cell has in it (Organelles)
Nucleus: Is the control center of the nerve cell and other cells. contains genetic material (chromosomes) including information for cell
development
Nucleolus: The nucleolus is a structure found in the nucleus of cells.
Mitochondria
:
produce energy to fuel cell activities.
Endoplasmic reticulum (ER):
system of tubes for transport of materials within cytoplasm
Golgi Apparatus:
membrane-bound structure important in packaging peptides and proteins into vesicles
Microfilaments/Neurotubules:
system of transport for materials within a nerve cell and may be used for structural support.
Nissl Bodies: groups of ribosomes used for protein synthesis.
